Pentax LX Kit W/ 50mm 1.4 Lens And 28mm 3.5 Shift Lens, Power Winder, Data Back

The Pentax LX is a 35 mm single-lens reflex camera produced by Pentax in Japan. It was introduced in 1980 and produced until 2001. The LX uses the K mount which is the Pentax proprietary bayonet lens mount. It has manual and aperture-priority automatic exposure modes. It is the top-of-the-line “professional” or “system” camera in the Pentax manual focus range and has a large range of accessories. Compared with contemporary professional camera bodies from rival manufacturers, like the Canon New F-1 or Nikon F3, the LX body is smaller and lighter, weighing in at 570 grams (20 ounces) with a standard FA-1 finder.

 

We photograph each individual camera that we sell for its own listing.  Please review photos carefully for information about the cosmetic condition of this kit; we consider the photos to be the complete description.  Note a couple of (cosmetic) scratches to the black paint of the camera body.  The name of a previous owner is engraved on the back of the camera body. 

 

This camera comes with both a 50mm f/1.4 lens (for that nice extra light you can squeeze out of the 1.4 aperture) and a 28mm f/3.5 shift lens, which is a specialty lens. 

 

A shift lens for 35mm cameras was most commonly used in architectural photography, although other creative uses are possible.  This type of lens permits perspective correction by enabling the photographer to displace the image circle relative to the position of the 35mm frame.  This lets you correct parallel lines (parallel in reality) that are converging towards each other (optically, in the image).  Each lens has a physical limit of correction; they are helpful for photographing buildings in particular, when you cannot levitate off the ground to change your perspective.  This shift lens corrects along one axis. 

Due to the peculiar font used for the Pentax LX logo, the model is sometimes misspelled as ILX.
